Animals and Plants: Keeping the Balance

As you have heard, the rainforests are being cut down and destroyed at an alarming rate. Thousands of species of animals and plants make their homes in these forests. Once these forests are destroyed, there is no chance for the llife within them to survive. Countless discovered and undiscovered species have already been lost to humankind forever. With enough effort, we can preserve this life for the future, to make sure they will be more than just memories for us and our children.

Tropical Rainforest Coalition is happy to introduce the Save-a-Species Program. Like the Save-an-Acre Program, TRC strives to protect rainforest land and the life within it. However, species require focused conservation efforts based on their unique needs that go above and beyond preserving the forest they live in. This program focuses on specific animal or plant species that are endangered and in need of protection. TRC will add new species to the program in an ongoing basis.

TRC begins the Save-a-Species Program with the Save-A-Turtle campaign. The program funds the preservation of sideneck turtle populations in the Manu National Park region of Peru. Read more about this exciting project in our projects section.

You can make a difference!

The Save-an-Species Program is an important way concerned individuals or groups are making a difference. With a donation of $50, your contribution will fund endangered species conservation by supporting their protection and re-establishment.

To commemorate your saved species, you will receive a certificate documenting your accomplishment. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Individuals: Save rainforest species as a way to make a personal contribution. Or give them to others as holiday or birthday gifts, graduation presents and memorials.

Groups: Saving rainforest species is a great project for schools, service clubs and professional organizations. Participating groups have raised funds through a variety of projects, including car washes, Earth Day events and community cleanup-a-thons. Creativity is encouraged. Share your great ideas with us!

Donors giving $200. or more will automatically be posted on our Thank You page unless directed not to do so. Please specify whether you are donating as a School, Business, Individual, or 'In Memoriam' of someone (you will receive an email contact address after you place your order).

Our Criterion

Tropical Rainforest Coalition created the Save-a-Species Program to help protect and preserve specific plants and animals that are threatened or endangered. Save-a-Species projects are usually (but not always) co-located with our Save-an-Acre projects. TRC evaluates proposals from the projects and helps to develop long term strategies by which the species' future is best ensured. This often involves integrating the local community into the planning process and administration of the program. TRC monitors progress of each program and re-evaluates future program needs based on demonstrated success.
