Our Conservation Funds
Among the many rainforest land areas we work with, each is unique in location, climate, population, among other characteristics. Thus, each project has unique needs and priorities. Some are at risk of complete deforestation. Other land areas are already established, but require only ongoing maintenance and expenses to sustain itself. Because of these variations, Tropical Rainforest Coalition has broken down funding into three different categories of projects. This makes the most efficient use of your donations as well as our managment resources. Unless requested for specific project by the donor, donations into any of our funds will be allocated to the projects of TRC's choosing based on many criteria including urgency, accountability, sustainability, and recency of previous funding.
TRC has created three types funds to represent most all of the projects taken on:
Tajalli Rainforest Growth Fund
Named in honor of the late Tajalli Moonstar, musician and protector of the rainforests, this fund supports projects which are already established, but need to be sustained for the future, whether it be for ongoing legal and title fees, surveying, infrastructure, scientfic research, local education programs and ecotourism. Once the land is purchased, this aspect is an integral and necessary part of every project. Click here to read more about this fund.
Save-an-Acre
This fund focuses on purchasing rainforest land for future conservation. TRC works with indigenous and non-governmental organizations in countries where rainforests are located to help in securing lands and associated property titles. Click here to read more about this fund.
Save-a-Species
This fund's focus on re-establishing plant or animal species in rainforests. This may happen on an existing TRC project or a separate project in another location. The fund suports all the steps necessary for repopulating forests, including plant and animal nurseries, introducing them into their native habitats, and supporting local indian communities that manage this process.
